Stop motion is the art of making an inanimate object seem to move on its own in film. This is accomplished by snapping a photo of an object, moving it a teeny bit, snapping another photo, and so on...repeating this process many times. Once the photos are combined together and played back in a rapid sequence, the object appears to move all by itself!
If you're old enough to remember Gumby, that is a perfect example of stop motion.
Here's a YouTube tutorial for a quick overview of Stop Motion. Although, in our club we'll be using iPads and the app Stop Motion to explore this art of film making.
And finally, here is a great tutorial of the Stop Motion app if you ever need a refresher.
In our meeting, we'll learn about stop motion and give it a go for the first time with guidance. Students will partner up to animate objects as they learn through trial and error.
Stop Motion Projects
In Tech Club, our learning goes beyond our meetings. We've introduced this new concept to you, introduced you to the tools and how they work, and given you time to explore. However, to become proficient with this art you'll need to keep working on it! Earn Tech-spert points by completing the following projects over the next month and be ready to share at our next meeting.

Don't forget to use your story board to plan your story first. Make your videos more interesting by creating a custom setting that goes along with your story. When your projects are finished, post them to your Google Classroom for Tech Club.
